DIG- Acts 8

Read Acts 8: 20-24 “Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”

Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”

Observe: Simon the Sorcerer was a sorcerer to earn money. When Peter and John came to bless and baptise him, Simon thought he could purchase the power of the Holy Spirit like he could purchase anything else.

Application: Today is repentance day, it is the heaviest but probably the most freeing day for everybody. It is when we place every sin on the cross and yield it to God. It is funny how today is repentance day and the passage talks about repentance. I feel that God is telling me, and this is applicable to everybody else, that before we start ministering to others about the Kingdom of God, our hearts need to be right before God. Every little thought in our hearts that are not pleasing to God or do not bring glory, should be cast away.

Do: Today is the day, He has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it, even if it is painful, even when we think these sins have become our identity.
